These Terms govern your use of JotSplit ("the app"), an expense-splitting app operated by Chen, Jiahao, an individual developer based in New York, United States ("we", "us"). By using JotSplit, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
JotSplit helps friend groups record and split shared expenses using natural language and a visual balance dashboard. Balances shown in the app are informational bookkeeping between group members. JotSplit does not move, hold, or transfer money and is not a bank, payment processor, or money transmitter. Any actual payment happens outside JotSplit, through third-party apps you choose.
You are responsible for your account, keeping your login secure, and the accuracy of what you enter. You must be at least 13 years old to use JotSplit.
Don't use JotSplit for anything unlawful, don't abuse or attempt to overwhelm the service, and don't try to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to it.
JotSplit uses AI to parse your expense entries. The free tier includes a daily allowance of AI inputs. JotSplit Pro provides unlimited AI inputs, subject to fair use — automated, abusive, or unreasonably excessive volume that is inconsistent with normal personal use may be rate-limited or restricted. AI output may occasionally be inaccurate; always review parsed results before confirming. You are responsible for the correctness of your recorded expenses.
JotSplit Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple, offered monthly or annually, with a free trial for eligible new subscribers.
You keep ownership of the content you create. You grant us the limited right to store and process it to operate the app (including sending expense text to our AI provider to parse it, as described in our Privacy Policy).
JotSplit is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that balances, parsing, or the service will be error-free or uninterrupted. JotSplit is a bookkeeping tool; it is not financial, tax, or legal advice, and it does not guarantee that anyone will actually pay what a balance shows.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any disputes between group members over money owed or paid. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
We may modify or discontinue features, and may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be subject to the courts located in New York.
